Frequently Asked Questions
Site Owners
By joining Zero Ad Network, you can reach a growing number of subscribers while providing a cleaner, ad-free experience:
- CLEAN_WEB feature: Your site won't show ads, cookie consent pop-ups, marketing dialogs, or third-party trackers to our subscribers.
- ONE_PASS feature: If you run a SaaS or paywalled site, you can offer free access to basic subscriptions, with paywalls removed for subscribers.
At the end of each month, you'll receive a share of subscriber plan fees based on their engagement with your site, using anonymized telemetry from our browser extension.
This is a way to make your site feel clean and obstruction-free, while earning additional revenue from users who would otherwise use ad blockers.
Absolutely! We value websites that provide a clean, ad-free, and high-quality experience. Since your site doesn't serve ads, track users, or hide content behind paywalls, you deserve to be rewarded for the time, effort, and resources you invest.
By joining, your site will help promote quality content across the web—and if our subscribers visit your site, you'll earn monthly payments based on their engagement.
It depends on how your website is built. Most content management systems at least allow adding HTML META tags.
We also provide several modules (server-side extensions) that help verify user tokens and conditionally disable ads, tracking, or enable premium content for our subscribers.
For detailed instructions, please visit our Developer Portal to learn how to integrate your site with Zero Ad Network.
Our browser extension tracks which partner websites subscribers visit and how much time they spend interacting with your content.
At the end of each month, we use this data to fairly distribute subscription revenue. Publishers receive a share proportional to the time subscribers spent on their sites.
The more your site is visited and engaged with by our subscribers, the more revenue you earn each month.
Yes. Each subscriber receives a unique ED25519 token, cryptographically signed with our private key and valid only for the subscription period.
Our browser extension sends this token via the X-Better-Web-Hello request header. Partner websites can verify the token's integrity using our public key through server-side modules we provide for popular programming languages and content management systems.
For detailed integration instructions, please visit our Developer area.
No personal information is included in the token. Each subscriber token contains only four fields:
- Token version
- Subscription expiration timestamp
- Enabled features (CLEAN_WEB, ONE_PASS, or both)
- A generated number (seed) to randomize the token value
We deliberately exclude any personally identifiable information to protect user privacy, sharing only what is necessary for partner sites to monetize effectively.
No. The subscription token should not be used as a user identifier, as its value rotates periodically. We recommend continuing to use your existing user authentication system.
Yes. Similar to how users browse websites with our browser extension, they can attach their subscription token to each paid API request. You would then report usage summaries—such as total requests and response times—to us.
This feature is still in early stages, but if you're interested, please email us at [email protected].
Web Users
We offer three plan options:
- Clean Web - Browse partner sites without ads, cookie consent pop-ups, third-party trackers, or marketing dialogs.
- One Pass - Access content hidden behind paywalls and enjoy basic paid subscriptions for free on partner sites.
- Freedom - Get the best of both worlds by combining Clean Web and One Pass features for an optimal browsing experience.
Depending on your plan, you can:
- Browse without ads and without your personal data being sold to third parties.
- Access basic subscription content or paywalled material on partner sites.
Your monthly subscription also supports web creators, encouraging them to focus on quality content rather than exploiting visitors.
With Google Chrome's Manifest v3, traditional ad blockers are becoming much less effective, and the web is moving toward DRM-like experiences.
Most web platforms can only monetize their content by participating in ad networks or selling your data to third parties who build profiles on you.
Our extension offers a better solution: by subscribing, you show the web industry that users are willing to pay for a high-quality browsing experience—without needing dozens of separate subscriptions—helping create a more enjoyable and private web.
To a small extent, yes. Our browser extension sends a special subscription token that only contains your plan type and expiration date. While the token could theoretically be “fingerprinted,” no personal data is collected or shared.
There are already many ways websites can track users, and our token simply adds one more data point.
In short, using Zero Ad Network could allow websites to track you in this limited way, but we believe the benefits—ad-free browsing, access to paywalled content, and supporting quality web content—outweigh the risks. The choice is entirely yours.
In most cases, yes. Some form of tool—whether it's client-side ad blocking, DNS filtering, or content filtering—is needed to remove ads.
Our approach is different. Instead of blocking creators from earning revenue, we help streamline monetization, so they don't need to use intrusive ads or tricks.
By supporting this model, more creators can focus on delivering pure, enjoyable content—just like you experience the web.
When your subscription token expires, websites will treat you like a regular visitor, with ads and other standard web experiences.
We believe a fair exchange of value benefits both sides—subscribers get a better experience, and creators are rewarded—creating a balanced web where everyone wins.
Yes! You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time.
If you cancel, you'll still enjoy an ad-free experience on partner sites until the end of your current subscription period—you won't be charged again.
And of course, you can renew your subscription anytime 😉.
From Vision to Execution
Hello World! This idea has been with us for a long time—to make the web a better place for everyone—but it didn't take shape until now. Over time, it evolved into what you see today.
The journey hasn't been easy, technically or socially, but it's been deeply rewarding. We wanted to create something that genuinely improves the web experience for everyone, this vision is what pushes us forward.
